But I’m beholding the same blue-green Atlantic Ocean and glittering skyline from the Palms Hotel & Spa, a Caribbean-meets-European resort in Miami’s Mid-Beach. ThisConde Nast Traveler 2015 Readers’ Choice winner has been a favorite among globe-trotters since 1992 when Hans Krause opened it.
Rejuvenated as a nature-inspired wellness-minded resort, its charms include palm-fringed stone paths with pressed seashell images weaving around tiki huts, cabanas, gazebos and a heated pool, coastal-chic rooms and Essensia, one of Miami’s best farm-to-table restaurants. Gates open to a picture-postcard beach where I swim between jetties after doing yoga poses atop the rocks.
