Former basketball player Shaquille O’Neal surprised the Orlando real estate market again by lowering the price of his Orlando mansion in the small town of Windermere again. The house has been listed four times and has suffered three price reductions since then. Initially offered for $ 28 million in 2018, the luxury residence in the Isleworth community in Windermere has gradually been losing its price. The first cut took the sale value to $ 22 million. Then, a further price cut put the house up for sale for $ 19.5 million in September this year, and the property is now being offered for $ 16.5 million.

The house is inside the Isleworth Golf & Country Club luxury condo, one of the most luxurious gated communities in central Florida. The residence has 107,000 sqft with 12 bedrooms, 11.5 bathrooms. Shaq bought the house in 1993 and did a major renovation, customizing it.

Some extravagant features that the house offers are: indoor basketball court, a large garage that looks like a luxury car showroom (accommodated 17 luxury cars from the basketball legend), a pool almost 30 meters long, a huge pier, a cigar room with humidifier and wine cellar, a Shaq collection room (with its awards), luxurious home theater, among other amenities.

The indoor 6000-sqft-basketball court, called “Shaq Center”, deserves mention. The court has the Miami Heat logo stamped in its center.

Orlando and Central Florida attracting luxury buyers

We already mentioned here on the blog the aggressive flow of North Americans migrating to Florida. New buyers are looking for single-family homes in suburban areas or small towns, with higher quality of life in communities with lower population density and lower contagion rates through COVID. At the same time, they want larger houses with an outdoor area to better enjoy the life of isolation in times of pandemic.

This influx of new buyers has also considerably impacted the luxury market in central Florida. 75 homes priced over $ 1 million were sold in September, compared to 41 in August, up 83%, according to the Orlando Regional Realtor Association.
