Despite heavy rain, Art Basel in Miami Beach attracted about 77,000 visitors in 2015, according to organizers of South Florida’s premier art fair.
The event, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, ran Thursday through Sunday. This year Art Basel saw everything from the sale of a $15 million Francis Bacon oil painting to anonfatal stabbing in the heart of the fair itself.
In 2014, organizers said about 73,000 people showed up. The year before, the fair reported 75,000 visitors.
Those numbers do not include the tens of thousands of people who attended the other satellite fairs such as Art Miami and Mana Contemporary that set up shop during Art Week or the countless parties that entertained visitors at night, including an honest-to-goodness orgy in Little Haiti.
