Due to the pandemic, more and more people want to get the most out of outdoor living. Therefore, many have opted to maximize their outdoor space. In fact, the National Kitchen & Bath Association reported a 65% uptick in membership interest for outdoor living projects. The following are some outdoor living trends that were brought by the pandemic:
1- Gathering Spots
The NKBA report stated that people are looking for upgraded gathering spots. Buyers want outdoor spaces with seating, fireplaces, fire pits, and other gathering upgrades.
2- Privacy
Homeowners are looking for more privacy in their backyards. Because the pandemic has caused people to spend more time outdoors, buyers are looking for private areas where they can meditate, exercise, and rest.
3- Outdoor kitchens
Outdoor kitchens are in high demand. In the NKBA report, outdoor kitchens, not surprisingly, were the top project, with 76% of those surveyed planning these areas.
4- Connection
Because so many people continue to work remotely, having connection in the outdoor area is a big priority for a lot of buyers. In addition, when asked where residents prefer to set up their home offices, one of the most popular choices was at the back of the house with direct access to the yard or patio.
