Good news for seniors! A new affordable senior housing in Miami Beach is on its way. In fact, the new project will be located on Normandy Isles Historic District. This new project will feature 4 stories and will be replacing an existing building with four occupied rental units.
The “Heron” will deliver 20 studios ranging from 400 to 440 square feet for seniors over the age of 62. The new senior housing in Miami will also feature a laundry room, office space, community room, and a rooftop terrace. The rent price for the units will range from $443 per month to $949 per month. However, this price will depend on the renter’s income.
The application for this project was submitted in May, and is set to be reviewed in September. This request is asking for approval to remove the existing apartment rental building.
Furthermore, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation and Miami-Dade are funding this project, which is about $5 million. In fact, the construction for the affordable senior housing project is expected to start in the first quarter of 2023.
This project will help improve the current lack of affordable housing for seniors in Miami.
