Lionel Messi, considered by many to be the best soccer player in the world, bought an apartment in the luxury Porsche Design Tower condominium in Sunny Isles Beach. The purchase price was $ 5 million, The Real Deal learns.
Messi was attracted to the Porsche Design Tower because of his privacy and his ability to get in and out of the unit without being seen, the sources said. That’s because the tower offers a high-tech elevator that transports the car from the owner to the apartment. It is possible to park the car in the living room, if the owner wishes, or in an existing garage in the apartment.
Messi bought unit 4705, 3,555 square feet with 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a toilet. The apartment is on the north side of the building, where it will have unobstructed views of the ocean.
The soccer star was being courted by David Beckham’s future Major League Soccer football team, Inter Miami. Messi is now a FC Barcelona striker. He has scored almost 700 goals in his career and has been named FIFA’s best player 6 times. Born in Rosario, Argentina, Messi took his native country to the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals. His contract with Barcelona ends in 2021, but can be renewed.
Lionel Messi joins a long list of prominent residents at the Porsche Design Tower, including Mexican billionaire Carlos Peralta Quintero, Colorado Rockies player Carlos “CarGo” Gonzalez, Bishop Edir Macedo, Rapper Anuel AA, among others.
Dezer Development completed the building in November 2016 and celebrated its inauguration with a private party that featured a presentation by Alicia Keys. The building is known for its elegant cylindrical design and the aforementioned exclusive amenity, known as “The Dezervator”, a car lift that allows cars to be taken to the unit owner’s residence. The name Dezervator (Dezer + Elevator) refers to the name Gil Dezer, partner at Dezer Development.
