The lush-carpeted dining room, lined with a towering wine wall, exudes power and success, trimmed with lighter woods for a tropical touch. The bar, with glass, mirrors, wood paneling and leather stools, looks rich, like the clientele. As at most steakhouses, prime cuts of pricey meat and chops are the stars at Bourbon Steak, but the supporting players are what put it over the top.

Michael Mina, the California-based celebrity chef and restaurateur who brought Bourbon Steak to Aventura in 2008, came up with the idea of serving a trio of fries to start meals at all his Bourbon Steaks (there are now seven in five states) and it has proven irresistible.
